| McNulty, Koning Return to Quickstrike Lady Blues for 2010 Season |
NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Goalkeeper Erin McNulty and midfielder Mercede Koning will return to the Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues for the upcoming 2010 W-League season.
Both were influential in the team's run to a 2009 W-League Regular Season Championship and McNulty and Koning also enjoyed experiences in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
McNulty started all 25 games for Florida State University in its run to the NCAA quarterfinals and posted a 0.88 goals against average. She played in 11 games for the Lady Blues in 2009 and maintained an incredible 0.40 goals against average, including three shutouts. She also has experience with the Canadian Youth National Teams.
"Having your goalkeeper return is great," Lady Blues Head Coach Jesse Kolmel said. "She has a lot of international experience, so we are very excited about having her come back."
Koning played in all 24 games for Brigham Young University in its run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. There, BYU lost 2-0 to eventual national runner-up Stanford University.
"Mercede played in the back for BYU this year, so she brings some versatility to us being able to play in both the midfield and the back," Kolmel said.
The Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues will kick off the season on Saturday, May 22 when they travel to take on the Long Island Rough Riders at 5 p.m.
